Dr. Srikumar Rao, also known as the “Happiness Guru,” is an expert in personal development, workplace happiness, and creativity. To spread his expertise, he created the acclaimed MBA course “Creativity and Personal Mastery,” and taught it himself at his alma mater Columbia University until 2005. It went on to be taught at other prestigious universities such as the London Business School and the University of California, Berkeley’s Haas School of Business.

After reading a lot of spiritual and mystical biographies on his own, Dr. Rao decided to find a way to make those teachings applicable to work and the corporate world. His previous time as a former executive for Warner Communications and McGraw Hill infuses his experience in the corporate world with respected spiritual philosophies to cultivate positive personal transformation in business students and senior management internationally.

Dr. Rao has is the author of the bestselling books, Are You Ready to Succeed? and Happiness at Work, as well as the audio course “The Personal Mastery Program,” all of which have been translated into a number of languages and distributed worldwide. He has received wide media coverage and acclaim in features by publications such as The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, and Forbes. He has also been a speaker for TED, Leading@Google, and Thinkers 50 interview.

One of the main ideas Dr. Srikumar Rao works to share with audiences is that we live in “a reality” rather than “the reality,” meaning the world we live in is constructed by us. So in actuality, we have the power to deconstruct the parts of our lives we don’t like and rebuild them into something fulfilling and enjoyable.

Dr. Rao explains that there is nothing you have to get in order to be happy.
