- Bennett’s ability to take complex ideas, simplify them, and then tell them as a story helps him connect with audiences and communicate leadership principles they can apply today.
Before he was 30 years old, Ty Bennett had a direct sales business with more than $20 million in annual revenue. His natural ability to engage and lead others landed him on Fortune’s Top 40 Under 40, and at just 32 years of age, he received the coveted Certified Speaker Professional (CSP) Designation. He is one of the youngest to receive the award in the shortest amount of time.
Through his company, he has developed more than 500 sales managers in 37 countries. He founded Leadership Inc., a speaking and training company designed to empower individuals and organizations. His clients include Coca-Cola, AT&T, Wounded Warrior Project, Subway, Blue Cross Blue Shield and Remax.
Since he was a child, Bennett says he has known his goal in life was to make a difference, and speaking gives him that opportunity. Bennett excels at taking complex ideas and making them simple. He often draws on his client’s work and his entrepreneurial experience to provide audiences with real techniques for more effective leadership and communication. His youthful and energetic presentations are dynamic and inspirational.
Bennett’s brand-new book is Partnership is the New Leadership, a topic about which he’s passionate. As today’s version of How to Win Friends and Influence People, universities such as MIT often use Bennett’s best-selling books—The Power of Influence and The Power of Storytelling: The Art of Influential Communication—in their graduate courses. Bennett also is the co-author of The Two Most Important Days of Your Life.
Ty lives in Utah with his wife and four children.
I teach sales and leadership groups how to develop more influence with their clients, customers and teams. I want them to learn specific strategies and techniques that they can apply when they walk out the door that are going to make them more influential in their leadership roles.

What do you want people to learn / take away from your presentations?
I teach sales and leadership groups how to develop more influence with their clients, customers and teams. I want them to learn specific strategies and techniques that they can apply when they walk out the door that are going to make them more influential in their leadership roles. I also want them to come away inspired to take action and make a bigger impact.
What kind of special prep work do you do prior to an event? How to you prepare for your speaking engagements?
I do my own research on the company and then we have an in depth call with the event team to discuss the theme, key messages, agenda, purpose of the event as well as the struggles, success and triumphs of the team. Depending on the group, I often do calls to top leaders or key individuals to discuss further what they are dealing with on a daily basis. That entire prep works allows me to customize to each group.
Have you had any particularly memorable speaking engagements / unusual situations arise while on the road?
I think the life of a road warrior is always fun and memorable :-). I had a really cool situation last week that sticks out. I was traveling home from a speaking engagement and I looked across the aisle on the airplane and the gentleman across from me was reading my book! I said, "What book is that?" He held it up and said, "The Power of Influence." I asked if it was good and he said, "I like it so far." I said, "Good, because I wrote it." He was shocked and I had to show him my headshot on the last page for him to believe me.
What types of audiences would most benefit from your message?
I primarily speak to sales and leadership groups. Those that are entrenched in the people business and want to increase their influence are the perfect groups for my message.
What inspired you to start doing speaking engagements?
I have had great experience in business that has given me key insights and I have a desire to impact the most people possible. So it is a perfect fit.
| |
This is hard to explain but it is what I feel like I am meant to do. I have a talent for speaking, I have had great experience in business that has given me key insights and I have a desire to impact the most people possible. So it is a perfect fit.
Which of your keynote topics are the most popular? Which of your keynote speeches do you enjoy the most and why?
• Partnership Is The New Leadership • The Power of Influence • The Power of Storytelling I enjoy each of these three speeches for different reasons. Partnership Is The New Leadership (which has become my most popular speech) is a total shift in approach and mindset for leaders. It gets them thinking about leadership in a new way and allows me to share relevant case studies and techniques of today's most effective leaders. In The Power of Influence I share great strategies to build influential relationships that work for both salespeople and leaders. I also get to share some great inspiration in this speech. And The Power of Storytelling is very hands on, breaking down techniques that can help sales people share their story more effectively. I love feeling as though I have taught a skill set.
What are some of the successes you've helped clients make?
On the sales side, I have many testimonials about the increase in sales that have come as a result of my sessions. On the leadership, what I typically hear about is the change in culture that begins with the change in the leaders who attend my speech. |

Ty Bennett doesn’t just want to inspire his audience; he wants to change them. His goal is to share with them things they can apply in their lives so they can be more influential leaders and successful sales people. According to Bennett, “I think the world of sales and leadership has changed forever. No longer is it about simply selling. And leadership based on authority and position doesn’t work. Today’s world is all about trust & influence. People want to be inspired, they want to be encouraged, and they need to be heard.”

The Power of Storytelling
Objective: Selling or leading through storytelling
In this program, Ty teaches the art of storytelling as a key communication and sales strategy. He provides attendees with the
mindset, skill set and toolset to sell effectively through storytelling.
People love stories. More importantly, stories engage emotion which prompts people to respond, take action or buy your products.
We are all in the people business. We are all communicators. We are all involved in selling products, services, ideas. Storytelling is the most influential form of communication because we’re all emotional creatures.
We’ve heard the saying: “people buy based on emotion.” The truth is people take action based on emotion. The underlying principle behind storytelling is that it’s not about you; it’s about the other person. Showing them how your story impacts them and how it pertains to their life creates an influential impact in the sales decision.
Ty’s Key Messages:
· Humanize your message: make a human connection instead of trying to sell your product
· Create the balance between credibility and relatability: buy into the idea that business is about relationships
· Engage the emotional, creative side of the brain: people buy from you because they know and trust you; let them in so they like and trust you
· Begin a conversation…not about you, about them: ask specifically you-focused questions
· Tell the story: everybody struggles with the same challenges…hook them with a struggle and you help them with a solution.
Learning Outcomes:
· The science of storytelling
· The 5 places to use stories
