For nearly two decades, former NBA player—now motivational speaker—Walter Bond has been sharing with his audiences the secret to peak performance. Bond’s passion for personal development is continually reflected in his audience captivation, his fascinating life story and the way he customizes his talks for specific client needs.
Bond grew up in Chicago as part of a family that values education. He always knew he was going to college, and although he dreamed of a career in the NBA, he had no idea that’s what would really happen. Bond was a reserve player throughout his four years at the University of Minnesota, but in the early 1990s, he became the first rookie free agent to start for the Dallas Mavericks. Bond enjoyed an eight-year career as a shooting guard for the Mavericks, Utah Jazz and Detroit Pistons. He played in 153 games and scored a total of 873 points. During his second professional game in the NBA, Bond scored a career high 25 points against the Minnesota Timberwolves (where he later served as a sports broadcaster).
All of this led to his understanding of peak performance truths that he shares annually with more than 100 companies and organizations in the United States, Canada, Mexico, the Caribbean and Europe. Clients include Blue Cross/Blue Shield, Amway, GNC, Hilton, UPS Store, Radio Shack, Red Robin and many national associations.
Bond is the author of All Buts Stink! How to Live Your Best Life and Eliminate Excuses and The Off-Season for Financial Advisors. In 2013, Bond hosted The Food Network’s show “Giving You the Business.” He was chosen over numerous candidates because of his infectious personality and franchise business experience.
