Ben Stein is the most famous economics teacher in America. His comedic role as the droning economics teacher in Ferris Bueller's Day Off is by far the most widely viewed scene of economics teaching in economics history and has been ranked as one of the fifty most famous scenes in movie history.
But in real life, Stein is a powerful speaker on economics, politics, education and history, and motivation—and like his father, Herbert Stein, considered one of the great humorists on political economy and how life works in this nation.
Stein in real life has a bachelor's with honors in economics from Columbia, studied econ at the graduate level at Yale, is a graduate of Yale Law School (valedictorian of his class by election of his classmates in 1970), and has as diverse a resume as any man in America.
Much more important, Stein is morally committed to making your meeting a success and bringing his extensive background to bring out the most powerful and funniest trends in current history. That background includes poverty lawyer for poor people in New Haven, trade regulation lawyer for the FTC, speechwriter for Presidents Nixon and Ford. (He did NOT write the line, “I am not a crook…”), columnist and editorial writer for The Wall Street Journal, teacher about law and economics at UC Santa Cruz and Pepperdine.
He has written or co-written roughly 30 books, mostly about investing, with his brilliant colleague, Phil DeMuth, many of them New York Times bestsellers. His and Dr. DeMuth's book, Yes, You Can Time the Market has become a landmark of using price theory for securities market analysis. He wrote a column about economics for The New York Times for several years, roughly 2004–2009.
He was the co-host, along with Jimmy Kimmel, of the pathbreaking Comedy Central game show, Win Ben Stein's Money, which won seven Emmys. Presently, he writes a column for The American Spectator and for NewsMax, and is a regular commentator on Fox News and on CBS Sunday Morning, as well as a frequent commentator on CNN.
"Ben Stein was phenomenal. His address touched every graduate, every family member, everyone present....His remarks completed the perfect graduation day."
Krista Willim, Chair, Speakers′ Committee, Washington & Lee University Law School
"Your session on "Ethics: A Serious Look at a Sound Investment Practice" was such a valuable contribution to the conference. The audience rated you as one of the elite speakers for the event."
Craig Ruff, V.P. Association for Investment Management and Research (AIMR)
"Ben Stein has twice as much personality as our last five speakers put together. Pay attention to this guy."
R. Hering, CEO, Covance
"I truly believe that when God made Ben Stein as a speaker, He broke the mold. Ben walked into a room of three thousand strangers at noon and by one p.m., they were all his friends and did not want him to ever leave. We have never had a more successful speaker in terms of interesting and motivating our members. Ben made me look so good as organizer of the event that I am now a hero. He did not just come and talk. He learned about the group and became a part of us."
Suzanne Devane, Chicago Women′s Center
"I must tell you what an incredible job Ben did as our Master of Ceremonies at the Starz Encore 10th Anniversary Celebration last night....Ben took the lead and tied the whole evening together with great finesse and laughter...I would be honored to work with him again...I hope that many other people get to know the man we did "What a privilege to hear your take on the economy and on life "You stirred interest on our campus unlike any other event in recent years....Our students are quoting from you constantly now. We are all so impressed at the time and effort you took to get to know us and stay for hours signing autographs and taking photos." "I have never heard a more courageous, amusing and insightful speaker at any financial conference than Ben Stein. He not only knows finance like a business school professor, but made us laugh while he told us what we needed to know. If there is a perfect combination of finance pro, humorist, and inspirer of men and women, he′s Ben Stein. We did not want him to leave."
Jim Janicek, Starz Encore Media Group.
Chad Dreier, CEO, Ryland Homes, February 2002.
Amanda Kale, Baldwin-Wallace College Republicans

You may have seen Ben Stein commenting on news channels like Fox, CBS, or CNN; you may have seen him in Ferris Bueller's Day Off, in one of the most iconic scenes in movie history. However you know Stein is not far off from what he delivers in a speaking engagement: deadpan humor and serious insights.
Educated in economics with years of related experience, Stein is equipped to provide equally spot-on and humorous market analysis. As a former speechwriter for both President Nixon and President Ford, Stein knows his way around speeches and has a deep understanding of how to captivate and engage an audience.
Aside from economics, Stein also offers a program called “Bein Stein on Life.” Though often associated with economics, Stein actually boasts a diverse resume, and can write a speech relatable to any audience—indeed, he writes his speeches from scratch. Stein’s tailored presentations will leave audiences with profound insight—if you want it—or simply great memories of a fun night. No matter the topic, Stein leaves each listener laughing and thinking.
"Ben Stein on Life"
Ben Stein is a profoundly unique individual who has had the good fortune to have "been there and done that" in a myriad of professions that many of us only dream about, see on television, or read about in the news. Ben Stein writes speeches from scratch (as he did for two U.S. Presidents) to fit your program perfectly. With expertise in everything from law to laughs, Ben Stein′s presentations will leave your audience with useful insight (if you want it!) or simply great memories of a fun time had by all.
